OUR CREWS THROUGH THE YEARS
The picture on the left (or above if on the mobile site) is of Clyde McCracken and Joel Fitzgerald with the 1977-78 Ford Econoline Ambulance. This was one of the first ambulance purchased for the county to run on emergency calls with technicians. At the same time the ambulance was placed in Ness City there was also another ambulance of the same make and model placed in Ransom. Both ambulances were a orange and white colored ambulance with a blue star of life on the side.
District #2 EMT's at the Ness County Hospital Health Fair in 1981. This picture shows the first orange and white ambulance in the county. There were two orange and white ambulances purchased for the county in the mid 1970's. Each ambulance was equipped with a silver ferno cot- which was top of the line! At the bottom right side of the photo, you can see the mannequin "Annie," who was used for EMS personnel training through the years.

Our Medical Directors -
From Founding to Present
The success of Ness County EMS is directly related to our past Service Directors and Medical Directors. We would like to use this opportunity to thank all our directors who have been a part of the service from the beginning, to the present, and into the future.
Dr. Mikhail Imseis M.D.
Dr. Mikhail Imseis was welcomed into the Ness County community by the Ness County Hospital staff. He became a member of Ness County District #2 medical staff on January 29, 1981. He specialized in family medicine and began practicing in Ness City, Ks where he had his private practice. He was very involved in the well being of his patients, the community, and EMS. Dr. Imseis served as an M.D. for 40 years in Ness County. For approximately 33 years of those, he served as the Chief Medical Staff Director and the Emergency Medical Services Medical Director. Dr. Imseis retired in April of 2021 and permanently closed his private practice in Ness City. After closing his private practice Dr. Imseis, donated his office medical equipment to an organization called MESA (medical equipment supplies and aid sharing). This organization relocates used medical equipment and supplies to developing countries around the world. The hospital that received Dr. Imseis's medical equipment provides care for the Nyrafolo Village in Africa. Dr. Imseis's wife Janie served as an EMT for Ness County EMS for 20+ years. Ness County EMS was blessed to have Dr. Imseis and Janie as integral members of our EMS family. We miss you both!
Dr. Kenneth McLain M.D.
Dr. Kenneth McLain was born on November 19, 1921. He spent his life as the primary physician for Grissel Memorial Hospital in Ransom, KS. Doctor Mclain was loved by all of his patients and spent numerous hours in his family practice treating patients in Ness County. He became the Medical Director for North Ness County EMS in the late 1970s and was the first medical director for the Ness County Hospital District # 1 EMS. Dr. McLain was beloved by his patients and served faithfully until shortly before his death in April of 1995. His son, Dr. Allen McLain, followed in his footsteps. He worked with his father and served as the medical director after his father retired. Both Dr. Kenneth and Dr. Allen are an important part of Ness County EMS. Both share special places in the hearts of Ness County EMS.
